Together we can give more children a voice
Kajubi’s parents abandoned him when he was just a few years old, and he was living with an aunt in a small village in Uganda. Kajubi was desperate to join his friends at the local school but felt unable to approach his aunt, knowing there was little money even for food let alone an education.
Problem: We all know that children have basic rights, but how do we empower them to make sure those rights become a reality?
Solution: Viva + 35 projects + 8 churches
A project alone might struggle to change the attitudes of a nation, but together we can raise our voices against discrimination much more loudly. With Viva’s help, these projects and churches are much better able to address whole communities, attract media attention, influence key decision-makers and inform and empower children.
When Kajubi attended a Bible study at a church that had gone through Viva’s advocacy programme he was told about his right to an education. This gave him the courage to talk to one of the leaders, who was able to use the network to find a school that would accept Kajubi free of charge. Now he happily rushes out to join his friends every morning as they prepare for the school day!
