Together we can give more children education

As a baby Patricia was abandoned on the outskirts of Harare, Zimbabwe. Passed from relative to relative, she was finally taken in by a local project when she was 15 years old. They wanted to help her start high school, but she had missed so much schooling that she could not read or even write her own name.

Problem: We all know that education is vital for a chance at a good future, but how can we make sure that every child gets that chance?

Solution: Viva + 35 projects + 30 local churches

Not every project is able to provide schooling for the children in their care, but now together they can run Bridging Schools in local churches. The schools allow children who have been out of school to catch-up with other children their age in English and Mathematics.

Attending one of these Bridging Schools meant that Patricia was finally able to learn how to read and write, with no pressure from other kids. Now she is preparing to join her peers in the local high school, and takes great pride in carefully writing her name on all of her school books!
